Lamb of God - That Was My Sinners Prayer!

God has His unique plan to reach out to His lost sheep, He is patient and never gives up.

One day when our ship was back to my country, one of my colleague 'Sim' invited me to attend the Sunday Service at his church. "That was nice!", I said to myself.

I went with him one of the Sundays, I could not recall what the sermon was, but I could remember after the service, one of his church members talked to me.

And he asked me do I believe in Jesus, do I want to be saved, do I like to have Jesus in my life....etc. Yeap, I said yes to all his questions, then he led me in praying........ years later then I knew that that was called the sinners prayer.

After I finished repeating the prayer, he told me that I Was Saved!

Huh..... you mean that's it?

I left the church with mixed feeling. On one hand, I was glad that I was 'saved', on the other hand, I was not sure what he meant by "I was saved" and had doubt that "Was I saved just by repeating what he said or prayed?"

I was handed with some booklets to read and I went back for the Sunday service a couple of times before my ship sailed off for overseas exercise. And subsequently, most of the Sundays, I was away in some ports, and I stopped going to church.

I did not grow spiritually, but Jesus, the Lamb of God did not leave me.
I was 19 year-old then.
My first encounter with Christianity was during my year at the kindergarten at the age of 6 year-old.
He has waited for me for 13 years before I said the sinners prayer.

But, that's about all after that, I was busy with my duties in the navy, enjoyed visiting ports after ports.

Jesus was not in my mind, but His protection was always with me. How great is His love!

Lamb of God - That Cabin Where People Talked In The Middle Of The Night!

Onboard my ship, I had a colleague named Ding, he was not tall, kind of below average.

When he first came onboard, there were 'bullies' tried to take advantage of him physically.
In no time, they realized they made a BIG mistake.

Ding's movement was so quick, it was lightning fast and he twisted their arms, hands and legs like folding transformer toys, and we came to know that he was a Judo expert and not an ordinary Judo expert, but a national representative. That meanss he was representing our country for Judo competition at the international level.

From that moment onwards, nobody dared to touch him, but we enjoyed watching him doing all those fanciful movements.

He was living the same cabin as me.

Hey, sorry, I have left the Navy for years and I have totally forgotten all the naval terms. So I might be using the wrong terms.

Later he shifted to the cabin which was next to the exit to the main deck. He found that it was more convenient to report for duty. Shorter distance.

One morning, we saw he shifting back to our cabin and we asked him why.

He said one night after his midnight watch, after handed over his duty, he came down to his cabin.
Just before he stepped into the cabin, he heard someone talking, talking in a language he did not understand. The moment he stepped into the cabin, the conversation ceased.

He was mad.

"Why you guys stopped talking when I came in?"

He turned and walked out and te conversation started again.

Ding was real angry, he turned and rushed into the cabin and wanted to throw someone on the floor, conversation stopped. He reached out and turned on the light. He found NO ONE in the cabin!!!!!!

He was scared to death though he was a National Judo expert.
He slept in the other cabin and shifted back to our cabin the next morning.

To get a man liked him to be so frighten, it was no ordinary matter.

Another colleague who was sleeping next to the exit to this 'haunted' cabin confirmed that he used to heard someone talking in the middle of the night in that cabin too, but he kept it to himself.

During one sea exercise I was involved. It stretched for a couple of days. One day, I was so tired after coming down from duty, I just went into the cabin, saw a unoccupied 'bed' (I think we called it 'bunk') and I threw myself on to it. And I had been sleeping in that cabin through out the exercise.

After the exercise, then I realized I was sleeping in that 'haunted' cabin.

Praise Jesus, the Lamb of God, for His protection. I did not hear or encounter any strange happening.

The Lord is good, all the time.

In fact, it was during my navy days, I came to know the Lord again.............

Lamb of God - What That Sound?

Who could it be hanging outside the ship in the middle of the night?

I could not sleep and it happened that I was on the next watch duty.

When it was time for me to take over the watch duty, I asked the watch team handing over duty did they hear anything strange, they said 'NO'!!!!!

During the watch, when it came to the time for rounds, I took up the challenge.

I was alone for the rounds duty as again not enough manpower.

When I entered the tank deck, the sound started again, but I could not locate the sound and it was on and off. I felt cold at my back.

Anyway, I was determined to find out the source of the strange sound.

I went around the whole tank deck and I did not see 'anything'.

And the sound stopped, I waited for awhile, the sound did not come back.

As I was about to move on and leave the tank deck, just before I stepped out, the SOUND happened again, it was right at my back where I was standing. All my hair stood up.

At the time, I was not yet a Christian and totally forgot about the 3 words "Jesus, Help Me!"

I hold my fists real tight and slowly turned my body. I was preparing, if I see "anything", I would just throw my punch at 'it'.

Oh my, when I looked back, I saw nothing!!!!!!!

And the sound came on again...... I was about to run.

At the very moment, I looked up and what!!!!!!

I saw one of my colleague hanging in mid night knocking at the water pipe.

I SHOUTED at him, 'Hey, what are you doing up there at this hour?'

Oh my, he was doing some urgent maintenance work. I was relief.

Anyway, I scolded him for not informing the duty team about his work. :o)

Phew............ it scared the day light out of me.

Lamb of God - That Little Kitchen!

My leader's encounter made all my hair stand up, it was not the worst until my assistant leader told me this.......

The little kitchen I used to do my cooking of supper was not 'clean'.
There were people reported strange incidents happened to them, like hearing funny (should I use 'funny' or should it be 'scary') sound and etc.

Hey, straight away, I told my leader and assistant no more midnight cooking duty for me.

Praise Jesus, the Lamb of God, I did not meet any 'funny' encounter. :o)

Hm.... anyway, the decision of not wanting to cook anymore might not be too good a decision afterall.

For subsequent night duties, nobody dared to do the cooking.

But in the middle of the night, everyone was hungry, so the assistant leader was forced to take up the challenge.

He was so frighten, I guessed he just poured the boiling water over the noodle and spread some source over it and that's it.

It tasted horrible. But what to do? Nobody was willing to cook!

Anyway, it did not mean if you were off night duty, you could have a sound sleep.

There was a night while I was sleeping, I heart this knocking sound.
It sounded as if someone was knocking against the wall of the ship, but outside the ship was the sea!!!!!

Lamb of God - Someone Tapped His Shoulder!

My team-mate told me that our Leader went for 'rounds' duty alone.

Going for 'rounds' means go round the ship :o)

Yeah, partially correct.

In actual sense, it means going around the ship to make sure all the cargo / hatches (doors) / ropes are secured.

That night because of short of manpower, our leader went for 'rounds' all by himself.

That was this opening on the deck with a ladder below, and the ladder was actually in mid air of the below deck, ie. the tank deck. Hm.... never mind if you don't understand, just imagine a ladder hanging in mid air.

This ladder was hung next to the bow doors, what we normally did was to stand on the ladder and reach out to the doors to check whether they were tighten. It was narrow ladder that could only accommodate one person.

When he was on the ladder checking the doors, he felt someone tapped his shoulder, he turned back and saw nothing, he thought it was the wind. In fact, wind would not even blow into that confined area.

He turned back and continued checking the bow doors, again, he felt someone tapped his shoulder. And this time he was very sure it was not the wind. He tuned back and saw nothing. No one could stand in mid air except him on the ladder. He went up and ran all the way back to the bridge, our duty area.

That was what happened.

That was fine because it was not happened to me, until someone told me about the kitchen I used to cook supper..........

Lamb of God - While I Was Cooking One Night.........

There were duties to perform onboard ship. They were called Watch duties which includes look-out duty, man the wheel duty, go for round duty etc.

When I was newly posted onboard ship, when came to the midnight watch or morning watch (I think these are the correct naval terms, can't really remember), which were 12 midnight till 4am and 4am to 8am, I was normally assigned to prepare supper.

I would do my cooking of instant noodle at a little room equiped with all the cooking utensils which a stove and basin were also installed in this little kitchen.

I was happy doing that. I enjoyed cooking.

The little kitchen was located at the far end on the main desk at the stern of the ship.
The walk from the bridge to this little kitchen was pitch dark. The only light was the bulb at the little kitchen. The route was a little path alone the edge of the ship, when the sea was choppy, it could be risky as one could slip and fall overboard where no one would notice.

Praise the Lord, the Lamb of God for His protection over me, I did not meet any accident.

It was normally very quiet, but one night while I was cooking, I heard some screaming sound, I did not bother at all though all my hair stood up. I treated it as some one was playing or drunk.

When I went back to the bridge, I saw the whole duty team was there and my Team Leader was sitting against the desk wall. He looked pale. I asked what happened.

He could not speak, and one of the team member told me....................
